    Default Zuma: "Eindtyd Profeet"

Zuma aan die woord in Kaapstad.

He reminded ANC members that the elections were around the corner and there was no time to waste. It was important that party members worked hard to build the ANC.

"We shall build this organisation. Even God expects us to rule this country because we are the only organisation which was blessed by pastors when it was formed.

"It is even blessed in Heaven. That is why we will rule until Jesus comes back. We should not allow anyone to govern our city (Cape Town) when we are ruling the country," he said.

    Zuma: ANC could rule forever
    28/10/2007 12:07 - (SA)

Kimberley - The African National Congress is not divided on the issue of leadership, the organisation's deputy president Jacob Zuma said on Saturday.

Delivering a tribute to former ANC president Oliver Tambo in Kimberley, he also repeated - twice - his assertion that the party would rule until Jesus returned to earth.

“Ek is self ’n Christen.

Me.

Ek sluit myself daarby in.”

Mar 13:21 En as iemand dŠn vir julle sÍ: Kyk, hier is die Christus! of: Kyk, daar!

    ANC will rule forever: Zuma

    By Drum Digital

President Jacob Zuma vowed on Wednesday that the ANC will rule "forever" as the country gears up for elections expected within months, according to reports.

President Jacob Zuma vowed on Wednesday that the ANC will rule "forever" as the country gears up for elections expected within months, according to reports.

"We will continue to run this government forever and ever. Whether they [detractors] like it or not," Zuma was quoted as telling ANC supporters in Zulu, one of the local languages.

He was speaking during an impromptu door-to-door campaign in Mbombela, where the party will on Friday launch its election manifesto and kick off the polls campaign.

He urged his supporters to vote in numbers to ensure that the ANC garners 90% of votes in the province, already a stronghold.

Observers predict a fall in nationwide support for the ANC this year, to around 60% or less.

Repeated corruption scandals, increasing crime levels, poverty, high unemployment levels and internal bickering are hurting the ANC's popularity.

The National Union of Metalworkers decided last month to ditch the ANC and will not campaign for it nor support it financially in the upcoming polls.

But the ANC leader scoffed at suggestions that support for his party is waning.

"They are dreaming while they are awake. We are going to hammer them," Zuma was quoted as saying by the City Press. "We are stronger than before".

ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu confirmed to AFP that Zuma had been quoted correctly.

The president's statement infuriated the opposition which accused him of using intimidating tactics.

"The ANC is resorting to scaring and intimidating voters," said James Masango, Mpumalanga DA chairperson.

"These thinly veiled threats are symptoms of a party and a president that is feeling the heat," added Masango in a statement.

Masango labelled Zuma's statement as "anti-democratic" and "unbecoming" of a president of a republic.

In 2008, Zuma also declared that his party would "rule until Jesus comes back".

Zuma, 71, was first elected to office in 2009. As the party's leader he is almost certain to be its presidential candidate in the polls whose date has yet to be fixed.

ANC will rule until Jesus comes, Zuma says again

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has repeated his mantra that the ANC will rule until Jesus Christ returns

Zuma - along with David Makhura, Nomvula Mokonyane, Thoko Didiza, Fikile Mbalula, Mapiti Matsena and Kgosientso Ramokgopa - spent Tuesday in the north of Tshwane conducting a door-to-door election roadshow and engaging with party supporters.

Zuma said that people needed to accept that the ANC would rule until Jesus Christ came back.

"I hear people complaining when we say the ANC will rule fully until Jesus comes back but we have been blessed. Pastors have prayed for us," he said.

He also took a swipe at other political parties and said their leaders never spoke about their own parties, but were more interested in talking about the ANC.

"There is a young man, everytime he opens his mouth, he says ANC. When are we going to hear about your party?"

Zuma admitted that the ANC had it's challenges, but was quick to point out that they dealt with them head on.

"There is no problem that we don't deal with because we are a people's organisation," he said.
